Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept emergencies or same-day appointments?
Often yes. We reserve time daily for urgent cases such as severe tooth pain, abscesses, or trauma. Call (480) 943-1900 and we’ll do our best to see you the same day.
Do I need a referral to see an endodontist?
No referral is required. Patients in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and surrounding areas can book directly with us. We also accept referrals from general dentists and specialists.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We work with many PPO insurance plans and provide pre-treatment estimates. If you’re out-of-network, we’ll help with reimbursement paperwork. HSA and FSA are also accepted.
What technology do you use for diagnosis and treatment?
We use CBCT 3D imaging and an operating microscope to visualize canals, cracks, and infections. This allows us to treat conservatively and predictably while preserving natural tooth structure.
How long does a root canal take?
Most treatments are completed in one visit lasting 60–90 minutes. Complex cases or re-treatments may require two visits to ensure full healing.
Will a root canal be painful?
With modern anesthesia, most patients describe the procedure as no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. Our focus is on keeping you calm and pain-free throughout your visit.
What is endodontic retreatment?
Sometimes a previously treated tooth doesn’t heal as expected. Retreatment involves reopening the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the canals with CBCT guidance, and re-sealing it to give your tooth a second chance.
When is endodontic microsurgery (apicoectomy) needed?
If a root canal or retreatment cannot resolve infection, microsurgery may be recommended. This involves a small surgical procedure at the root tip to remove infection and save the tooth.
Can cracked teeth always be saved?
Not always. Some cracks can be stabilized and saved with root canal treatment, while others may require extraction. Our CBCT and microscope evaluation helps us determine the best course of action quickly.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve patients across Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and the greater Phoenix area.
